2024 Type Evaluation Campaign

The CMGA is currently seeking breeders’ interest for the 2024 Type Evaluation campaign. The fees proposed are the following

  • $335 per farm for farm visit fee provided the farm fits into the planned schedule. If the farm requests a different date which requires extra travel and/or time, the $335 fee would apply plus Extra travel would at $.99 /km round trip to the farm plus extra travel time fee if required.
  • $140 per breeder if they choose to take their animals to another evaluated and willing host farm instead of having the evaluator come to their own farm (plus per head fee).
  • $18 per head for 50 or more goats booked belonging to the farm.
  • $23 per head for 20 to 49 goats booked belonging to the farm.
  • $26 per head for less that 20 goats booked belonging to the farm.

This fee structure is based on a minimum of 16 farm visits total with all of the farms being in AB, SK, MB, ON, QC. A minimum total of 225 goats in the afore mentioned would be required to make it cost effective at these prices.

NOTE: The fees could apply for NS, NB and PEI if there are a minimum of 4 farm visits on the program in those 3 provinces combined and added to the classification list. Also, the fees could apply for mainland BC if there are a minimum of 4 farms total on the program in that province and added to the classification list (these would all be examined on a case-by-case basis depending on distance to travel, etc.).

The anticipated time frame would be early September and possibly continuing into October, starting in Ontario and/or Quebec. Saskatchewan and Manitoba would probably be after that, depending on farms.  Alberta, British-Columbia and Maritimes would have to be arranged separately.

Interested breeders, please fill this survey by June 21st: https://forms.office.com/r/xjEdizYVDs

For more information on Type Evaluation, it is recommended that breeders read the Type Evaluation Handbook available here 2014_TE_Handbook-new.pdf (canadianmeatgoat.com) on the CMGA website.
