After 3 years of absence due to lack of participation or COVID, the CMGA Type Evaluation campaign will be held in the fall of 2022 despite the lack of participation. The CMGA Board decided to invest in the classification program since it is the only tool available in 2022 to allow producers to improve their herd. Indeed, the performance improvement program (GHIP) was put on hold in 2022 in order to convert it into a real genetic improvement program for meat goats.
Only a few spaces are still available. For more information consult the Type Evaluation Information and Registration Form document.
Type evaluation compares a Boer goat to the ideal Canadian Boer Goat, based on several measurable traits. Type Evaluation programs can be of assistance to both purebred and commercial breeders. These programs help breeders identify specific strengths and weaknesses of individual animals in their herd, and as a result, can help lead to overall herd and breed improvement. This program is objective with trained evaluators who compares your animal to the ideal Boer goat by using a detailed scorecard and standardized system.
