Attention all youth show enthusiasts!

The CMGA is excited to announce a brand new program for all youth across the nation proudly showing their meat goats at CMGA sanctioned shows and junior shows! You kids are the future of our industry and every time you take your animals out to a show you are representing our industry to the public and to other producers. We are proud to have you and we recognize the many hours of work you have put in to get your animals to the ring. The CMGA Youth Point Chase is your opportunity to collect points for your show efforts and be in the running to be the top point earners at the end of the show season. Here’s how it goes…

The Point Chase is open to all juniors, age 18 and under as of January 1st of the current year, exhibiting meat goats in either purebred, percentage or commercial meat goat classes. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Place: $100 cash prize, belt buckle, certificate of recognition and complimentary lifetime CMGA junior membership (membership will be complimentary for as long as the member is a junior)
Runner Up: $50 cash prize, certificate of recognition and complimentary lifetime CMGA junior membership
Honourable Mention: certificate of recognition and complimentary lifetime CMGA junior membership

Points will be accumulated throughout the year at any CMGA sanctioned show or any CMGA board approved designated junior show where meat goat classes are included. Points awarded for any non-sanctioned shows will be at the discretion of the CMGA.

For all CMGA sanctioned shows, the points will be automatically tabulated by the CMGA office. However, in order to earn points for any non-sanctioned junior shows, you must send the official placing results and show contact information as provided by the organizing show committee directly to the CMGA office. Points will be awarded as follows:
For Showmanship Classes:
Age Group Division Winner – 60 points
Age Group Division Reserve Winner – 50 points
Participant – 20 points
For Conformation Classes:
Grand Champion – 30 points
Reserve Grand Champion – 25 points
Junior or Senior Champion – 20 points
Reserve Junior or Reserve Senior Champion – 15 points
Class Winner – 10 points

Please note that conformation points can be accumulated for both junior show and open show results, however, for open show results to be eligible the results must be from a CMGA sanctioned show and the animals exhibited MUST be registered and exhibited in the junior’s name. For results in the commercial or market kid classes to be eligible the animal must be exhibited in the junior’s name.

In the event of a tie in total number of points, the junior with the highest accumulation of showmanship points will be the winner. We will announce the winners at the AGM and publish them in the Meat Goat Journal.

So while you are out there at your local shows this summer, have fun, be proud and earn some points!
