Survey of Canadian sheep and goat producers

Dear Canadian meat goat producer,

Through the Integrated Genetic Services Project (see below for more information on the project), the Canadian Meat Goat Association with the collaboration of its project partners is building a genetic evaluation program for meat goats. The key to the success of this program is the participation of meat goat breeders in very large numbers. In order to meet the needs and expectations of the participants as closely as possible, both Genetic Evaluation and End User Advisory Committees are asking Canadian Meat Goat producers to fill a survey. The survey is also open to dairy goat and sheep producers in order to improve the current service offer in genetic evaluation.

The survey is about participation in various components of Canadian genetic improvement programs, including animal identification, registration, performance recording, use of on-farm management software, and genetic evaluation.

We would greatly appreciate your cooperation in completing the survey, which should take 10 to 15 minutes. The survey can be accessed online at: https://forms.gle/pKAXPQEyhQeezeX87

We have agreed to distribute the survey to our members, and in return will have access to the results. The survey will be open for responses until July 31, 2023. Please complete the survey at your earliest convenience.

If you require a hard copy version of the survey, please contact the CMGA office at info@canadianmeatgoat.com. If you have already completed the survey after receiving it from another participating organization, please disregard this request.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Catherine Michaud

General Manager
